Key points

  • ・One or more patented inventions.
  • ・Three or more publicly funded research projects undertaken before entry to Japan.
  • ・Three or more academic papers as lead or corresponding author.
  • ・Other equivalent achievements, such as a major award.

What does not stack

  • ⚠️Specialized/technical: any one of the above gives 15 points, and meeting several does not stack.
  • ⚠️Academic research is scored differently, up to 25 points.
  • ⚠️Papers are normally verified through Scopus, Web of Science or PubMed; a lead author is expected to have contributed substantially.
